My story - ALEŠ OGRINC

I am a former member of the military special forces with 30 years of experience in physical training, and today I am a licensed personal trainer. Already in my youth I was passionate about cross-country cycling, and after my military career I focused more on MTB enduro riding. Later, I immersed myself in personal training with the desire to combine my two biggest passions—cycling and functional training.

I learned from both international and domestic experts in the fields of functional training and cycling. My guiding principle is clear: to become the best possible version of yourself on the bike—through the most effective training designed for cyclists. Every recreational or amateur rider can benefit from structured training, both in the gym and on the bike. Cycling is not just about turning the pedals—it is much more. That’s the philosophy I want to pass on to everyone who wishes to progress in their sport or recreation.

I started with myself. If it works on me, we’re on the right path, I told myself. The results of the exercises I tested were undeniable—better agility, endurance, strength, explosiveness, mobility, and coordination on the bike. This convinced me that functional training for cyclists really works—not only on the bike, but also in other sports.

The movement patterns we perform in the gym largely mirror those we use on the bike, only under greater load. This connection between gym training and cycling performance is what makes functional training so powerful and effective.

Every cyclist—and every athlete—needs to be complete and in muscular balance to achieve great results. FIT4BIKE training is not only for cycling, but also supports all other sports, muscle gain, and fat loss.

My philosophy is simple: the best way to lose weight is to choose cycling as a healthy cardio workout, ideally in nature, combined with functional training in the gym. Only when we are in good shape can we truly enjoy cycling and outdoor activities.

Since most people only have time to ride on weekends, cycling alone often doesn’t bring the desired results. That’s why functional training is essential preparation for the cyclist’s body. It’s not just about copying cycling movements—it’s about restoring balance to the muscles. Pedaling is a repetitive motion that primarily engages the front thigh muscles, which often leads to imbalance, back pain, and weaknesses in the so-called posterior chain (hamstrings, glutes, and lower back extensors).

With the right approach, functional training corrects these imbalances, builds stability, prevents injuries, and allows every cyclist—from amateur to professional, road to MTB—to ride stronger, longer, and healthier.
